Video: HAE Through Jack's Eyes

A high school senior, Jack recalls more than a decade of swelling attacks due to hereditary angioedema, including a life-threatening attack in his throat.

Story

Jack’s story about living with hereditary angioedema (HAE) is full of numbers: He’s 17 and was diagnosed at age 4 after seeing 13 doctors. He missed 40 or 50 days of 7th grade and has been to the hospital 20 or 30 times. The ride to the hospital when an attack swelled his throat was 15 minutes long but felt like forever.

“Emotionally, it took a toll on me,” Jack said.
