Story
2024 HBA Honorees Diana Lanchoney and Payal Patel

March has become a month for recognizing all that women have achieved, which makes it a perfect time to share the CSL leaders to be honored this year by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.

Each year, the HBA – a global nonprofit dedicated to gender parity in leadership positions – recognizes Luminaries and Rising Stars designated by HBA corporate partner companies, including CSL. Senior leaders are honored as Luminaries and early- and mid-career leaders are recognized as Rising Stars. This year, Diana Lanchoney, Vice President, Clinical Development Operations, R&D, is an HBA Luminary. Luminaries, who have 20+ years of experience, are recognized for serving as role models, actively mentoring and sponsoring others, helping advance other women’s careers and exhibiting dedication to the health care industry.

Payal Patel, Site Head of Engineering for Holly Springs, CSL Seqirus, is a Rising Star – a group of professionals recognized because they are outstanding contributors within their companies and advocates for equity for women in the health care industry and globally.

Lanchoney, a physician business leader, has run three different R&D functions, including R&D Project Management, Clinical Pharmacology Translational Medicine Group and, currently, Clinical Operations. She has a track record of diving into new areas and elevating the contributions of functions she has led. With a focus on people development, she seeks to help employees develop their talents through assignments, roles and conversations that push for continual growth.

"It's never about me. It's about we, always," she said. "If it's about we, then we can do a lot of things together."

Patel has held several roles at Holly Springs with increasing responsibility, scope and leadership, including Supply Chain Planner, Key Account Manager for Contract Manufacturing and Head of Project Management Office and Operational Governance for the site. She has focused on improving her team’s overall performance, effectiveness and capabilities, while also taking a genuine interest in people.

"I think the greatest joy, or the most fulfilling thing for me, is to have an impact on other people," she said. "So if any actions I've taken have had a positive impact or influence for the company, for people that I work with, to me that is the essence of this award."

CSL’s partnership with the HBA is part of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts to enhance the development of female leadership and affirm its commitment to bringing a wide variety of viewpoints and ideas to the workplace.
