Every day in February, we’re sharing content about rare diseases in anticipation of Rare Disease Day on the last day of the month. February includes another important day, established by the United Nations: February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
Why do we need more women scientists? Because the world needs diverse perspectives and ideas to spark progress in critical issues such as poverty, hunger, health and the well-being of the planet, says the United Nations. To that list, we would add treatments for people who have rare and serious diseases.
